On October 3rd and 4th 2024, our annual Indigenous Data Workshop (IDW) collectively brought together community leaders, healthcare professionals, and researchers to collaborate on efforts relating to Indigenous health research.

Over the two days, the workshop featured study updates on CAHHM-First Nations (Russell de Souza, ScD, RD, Dipika Desai, Lisa Mayotte, Miles Marchand), as well as investigating the impacts of environmental factors such as air pollution and wildfires (Jeff Brook), and planning for data linkage projects (Jennifer Walker). Discussions also highlighted the relationship between diet and health outcomes, emphasizing the need for integrated strategies to promote healthier communities.

Participants also engaged in hands-on statistical analysis and discussions about building capacity for future collaboration and innovation in the field of Indigenous health research. The session concluded with all attendees collaboratively planning future strategies to effectively disseminate information to their communities and potentially inform policy change. Bringing together individuals from healthcare and research, the IDW event sparked meaningful conversations built on previous efforts to enhance indigenous health objectives rooted in community-centered approaches.
