The Inter Heart Modifiable Risk Score (IHMRS) report is a cardiovascular health risk score calculated from the information that you provide and designed to predict your risk of having a future heart attack, stroke, or other major heart diseases in the next 10 years.

Some interesting statistics:

  • Every 7 minutes in Canada, someone dies from heart disease or stroke (Statistics Canada, 2011c)
  • Heart disease and stroke are two of the 3 leading causes of death in Canada (based on 2008 data)

Did you know…?

By providing your health card number to the Alliance project, this allows us to link the information we collect from your questionnaires to national and provincial databases that collect information on health and use of the health system. These databases can include information on your medication usage (past and present) and on your hospital and doctor visits. For participants that agree, this data will be shared with the Alliance, the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) and the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES).
